The worksheet below contains the anticipated general fund allocation for the 46 departments with an allocation in excess of $1 million. Keep in mind that, in many cases, these appropriations represent just a portion of a department’s total budget because many departments have funding sources beyond the general fund.
Adjust departmental budgets in the worksheet below until you have achieved a balanced budget. Just enter your proposed adjustments as a percent reduction in a department’s budget in the yellow-shaded cells. A corresponding dollar amount reduction will be automatically calculated for the department. The results of your proposed reductions will be summed and displayed in the top portion of the model (shaded in light blue). Good luck!

Most of the items that I have zeroed out should be managed by the legislature or other divisions of the above..
Education: There is no industry which can continue to expand staff and salaries with no limit. HHS cannot survive while basing eligibility on multiples of federal poverty e.g. 275%. This figure exceeds the median income in many communities.
Where are corrections, the judicial system, and public safety? They are a significant part of the states budget, unless they are co-mingled in other areas. Nothing should be off the table.
